Mike & Pat Jones are organising a Fish ‘N’ Chip Supper & Quiz (hosted by Paul Sanderson) to raise funds for Worthing Disabled Swimming Club, this Saturday 21st October, 7pm – 9.30pm at the Wickbourne Centre.

£10 per person (includes fish & chips, tea/coffee). For tickets see Mike & Pat Jones or contact them on 01903 734072.

Mike & Pat write: The Worthing Disabled Swimming Club offers people with mobility impairment an opportunity to enjoy weekly sessions in a Hydrotherapy Pool to help with muscle exercise, assisting recovery after strokes, accidents etc. and mobility issues for those with MS, Parkinson’s etc. It is so much easier and beneficial to exercise in lovely warm water! We see people slowly improve physically and in confidence in movement and we all enjoy a friendly chat in or out of the water! We hope you can make the Fish ‘N’ Chip Supper & Quiz (and raffle). Come and join the fun as a team or just go solo!

Arun Church Football Club

Admin —  October 20, 2017

Laurie Mellor has written a match report of Arun Church FC’s recent league game on Saturday 14th October:

DEL UNITED 5 – 1 ARUN CHURCH FC

This was a tough game. Toby Neal’s superb early goal from a neat Mikey Vickery Brown layoff suggested that Arun might challenge Del’s place at the top of our league, but it was not to be.

Played on a sluggish pitch at Southfields Rec and in pleasant weather, it became clear why Del were top. They broke quickly, played incredibly directly, and equalised almost immediately. From then on, unfortunately, it was near one way traffic. That said, Arun always competed and stamina is improving with each game.

Tom Langlois looked more at home in the centre of defence and made some telling tackles; there were periods where we had some good possession; Ben Ansell and Harry Jupp, both having the advantage of being two-footed, were effective.

It’s a long road ahead and we are in a learning curve, but heads did not drop and we competed until the final whistle.

You can follow the team’s league progress by searching online for West Sussex Football League Division 5 South.

I am setting up a prayer group. Email me on laurie.mellor@themellorpractice.co.uk

Gaffer’s Thoughts: “A tough game that perhaps showed us how far we still have to go, to achieve our aim of promotion to Div 4. Del United were a decent side but we allowed them to dictate the pace of play too easily, both in how they panicked us in the first half, then slowed the game to a crawl in the second.”

Man of the Match – Tom Langlois, put in a close to faultless display with some very assured decision making.
