It is with a little sadness that we are writing to tell you that Launch Pad Breakfast Club has come to a close after running for nearly 18 years.

The breakfast club was first started by The WIRE Project at White Meadows Primary Academy (then called Flora McDonald Junior School) in December 1999, and moved to the Wickbourne Centre in 2006. Since then we have provided breakfast for up to 40 children each school day and even featured on BBC Children In Need in 2011!

We have decided to close the club for a number of reasons, but ultimately we have seen less children accessing the service over the past year demonstrating it is not needed as it once was. We had less than 10 children each day.

Many parents are being encouraged back to work and choosing childcare options, and where an early morning breakfast is still needed there are excellent alternatives to Launch Pad including a breakfast club at White Meadows School which is more convenient for some parents. We would like to stress that closing the club is not a financial decision.

We’re working closely with White Meadows to make sure that all current Launch Pad children will continue to be supported in the mornings. The last day of Launch Pad was Friday 20th October where we had a celebration breakfast with the children. We also plan to hold an 18th birthday celebration later in the year and are working on the details. After much prayer we see this as a coming-of-age for Launch Pad. There will be a public press release next week.

Please pray for the families that attended Launch Pad and a smooth transition for them. Also for the amazing team of staff and volunteers from the church who give their early mornings to serve the children; and a massive thanks to Jan Evans and Zoe Parvin for their faithfulness and vision in heading up Launch Pad over many years.
