It is always our intention to offer the best welcome and hospitality we possibly can during our Sunday morning meetings. With this in mind Ben & Emily Ansell have kindly offered to oversee and bring new inspiration to our Welcome teams. See below for their thoughts and plans:
Hello, we’re Emily and Ben Ansell and we’ve volunteered to head up the Sunday Welcome Team or as we would prefer to call it, the Hosting Team at ACC. We’ve been members of Arun for a couple of years, with our three boys, Caleb, Elijah and Josiah, and love being part of the church and wider community.
Why are we involved?
When we first arrived at ACC we received a warm welcome but it was not always consistent. Since then we’ve spoken to others who have had similar experiences. Of course, the current team does a great job overall but there are always areas where we can improve, particularly in how our hospitality compliments our current activities and helps people feel even more comfortable, cared for and connected.
Hosting vs Welcome
Welcome is where it starts but saying “hi” between 10am and 11am and serving coffee at the end is probably not meeting all the needs of our guests. This is why we prefer the term ‘hosting’ as it implies a longer term, more concerted effort on behalf of the team to make sure that everyone who visits on a Sunday, especially if they’re exploring church for the first time, feel comfortable, cared for and connected at every point during their time with us.
How you can be involved?
We‘re hosting an informal meeting where we’re inviting those of you who would like to get involved in Hosting or have ideas about what we could do, to come and share so we can really start rolling out the red carpet for all our guests. This will take place 7.30-9.30pm on Thursday 23rd June at the Wickbourne Centre. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re thinking of coming.
Looking forward to serving with you all, and seeing you on the 23rd June.
Ben and Emily
