Our condolences to the family and friends of Dorothy Smale who passed away last Saturday, we pray for them especially at this time. David Thatcher writes:

Dorothy moved on to heaven last Saturday after a short time in Worthing Hospital, at the age of 92. Unknown

She was born and brought up in Bristol where she met and married her husband John. About the age of 34, Dorothy and John became Christians, and took the radical step of faith in selling up everything in Bristol and moving to be part of a Christian community in Goring, and later in Clapham Village. There she saw healings and miracles of provision as never before, and she always said those were the most exciting and amazing times of her life.
When the community finished, she and John moved to Littlehampton and became part of Littlehampton Baptist Church. When they moved to Rustington, the Littlehampton leaders asked them to start a mission church in Rustington along with son-in-law David Thatcher in the Village Hall. That small group of about 40 people meeting in 1972 has gradually grown to become Arun Community Church today. Dorothy supported John in everything and ran a ladies group for many years, no doubt with never a dull moment! John died 22 years ago.
Increasing age and lack of mobility has meant that she hasn’t been regularly on a Sunday for a number of years, but her legacy of faith and obedience to following Christ are an example and a legacy for us all.
A short service of a celebration of her life will take place at Worthing Crematorium on Tuesday 22nd March at 3.40 pm, followed by refreshments at Wickbourne afterwards. Everyone is very welcome to both.
Heather & David Thatcher and Tim & Gill Smale would like to express their deep appreciation for all the love, support and prayers expressed by the church family over the last week following Dorothy’s death last Saturday.

Our condolences to Nathan Yos and his family on the passing of his Dad Antipo who died on Monday. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time.
