Day Three

Wednesday: Justice: Calling the Nations Home

Arise, Lord, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree justice. (Psalm 7:6)

“Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. (Matthew 12:18)

Isn’t it overwhelming sometimes just sitting and watching the news? We are bombarded with images and statistics, devastating events and disasters. Evil men send video in HD quality, filming the demise of their latest victims all aiming to create fear and a sense of complete chaos and helplessness in the face of such cruelty. 1.8 million people are being trafficked around the world, forced to do unspeakable deeds, illnesses and lack of basic sanitation ravish nations, every ideology of man tramples people down under it’s inadequacy to answer the desperate needs of people’s hearts. All the while the scriptures say God hears the cries of his people and that he will bring justice. Though he is God and could choose anyway he desires, he has decided to work through his people, his servants – you and I, the Church. We are his plan A and he has no plan B. If people are going to see the mighty saving grace and power of God, it is going to be through us. Does your heart burn and ache for the ‘least of these’? Does righteous anger rise up within you against the enemy, who was defeated at Calvary yet assumes he still has a right to wage war on God’s people and His beautiful creation? I believe this is a year to decree and proclaim justice to the nations. King Jesus, let your Kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven!
