Day 10: Jesus Is Announced
Luke 2:12-14New International Version (NIV)
12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.”
Now-a-days we have an unspoken rule that you never congratulate new parents on the birth of their child on facebook until the parents themselves have announced it online. However I think all can be forgiven if a heavenly host of angels announce it before the parents, filling the night sky with praises! The shepherds were going about their daily duties, looking after the sheep and goats. They weren’t wealthy or influential people, in fact they were often looked down upon in society. They spent most of their time outside of society, abiding in the fields for months on end. So why were these people chosen to hear the announcement of the birth of the saviour of the world? Were they in a good social position to strategically spread the good news? No. Were they even devout Jews? We don’t know. All we do know is that Jesus came for ALL of mankind. God is demonstrating his love to everyone, no matter who we are, what job we have, where we live, or what we have done. He sent his precious son, Jesus, for each and every one of us! Be sure to let the revelation reach the depth of your heart, and drop everything to worship him! He wants you to know him personally.
