Christmas Day

On Christmas Day we will be meeting at TLA, 10.30 – 11.30am. All of the children are invited to bring a present that they can show to the church. We will be taking a special offering for ministries that work in prisons both locally and in Colombia.

Colombia: ‘Walk To Freedom’ is a Christian ministry in Colombia reaching out to convicts and their families in some of the most dangerous prisons in Colombia. The situation for prisoners in Colombia is very complex for various reasons, such as the overcrowding of prisons, lack of reform programs and help to re-integrate prisoners back into society and the lack of judicial process. This means that many people are living in tragic circumstances. However, God is moving powerfully through Christian ministries such as ‘Walk to Freedom’ who are seeing revival in the prisons, many of which are being held up as examples to all Latin America of how the culture in the prisons can change as people turn to Christ.

United Kingdom: Here in the UK, our very own Andy Kerr works as a Chaplain in both Ford and Lewes Prison, and together with him we are channeling our funds through an organisation called Angel Tree who provide gifts for children of prisoners. Through your giving we will give 35 presents to children of prisoners in Ford and 130 presents to children of prisoners in Lewes through Angel Tree. We will also give to the Sycamore Tree course which is being run in both prisons. This course is a victim awareness programme that teaches the principles of restorative justice.

A huge thank you on behalf of all the people who will receive these blessings. See you on Christmas Day!
