As a result of The Mix, we are partnering with Safe in Sussex (a registered charity offering support to women and children experiencing or trying to escape domestic abuse) across the year, and finding different, fun and creative ways to raise awareness and raise funds. Our first project is to collect toiletries in our weekly shop (it’s buy 2 get 1 free on toiletries at the Co-op at the moment!).
Toothbrushes (adults and child)
Everything must be brand new, unused and sealed. These items are so useful as many have to flee with no warning. This will be the first “welcome” a person or child will receive when they enter the refuge. In addition, good quality toys in good condition would be very useful as their toy boxes are depleted and often children have to leave without any of their toys.
If you would like to make a donation on your mobile, call 70070 SISW01- (amount £1, £3, £5 or £10 and please gift aid donation if you’re a tax payer). You can also donate online: Virginmoneygiving.com/giving
The Safe in Sussex website is very informative with lots of fundraising ideas.
We would love to fundraise collectively too, in our Life Pods and as church so that we can get a real sense of unity. Items may be left at Info Point on a Sunday (but not at the Church Office please) where they will be collected. If you would like any more information, please have a word with Amanda Hills, Pip Smith or Liz Brooks.
