Dear Pastor Thatcher,

I appreciate your comments on the new ways to "do church". I have my own concerns about how much we may be giving away to meet the demmands of our consumer-based, hard to please culture.

While I DO believe in finding relevant ways of communicating to people in the world, I get concerned about ideas that seem to compromise the message of the cross or the power of the Holy Spirit. I think we are challenged today, perhaps more than ever, to be creative and trust God for His vsion for our individual churches. After all, Jesus assured us that He would build His church. One plants, another may water, but ultimately, HE brings the increase.

I hope to visit your fellowship one day on my way to or coming back from India. God bless you and your efforts in the Motherland!!

God bless,

Randy Bunch, Pastor

Thanks Janet, The cost is £14 per child per week. Forms are available at ACC Office or Wickbourne Centre. Over 200 places have been taken up in around 2 weeks with a maximum of 250 places available. Get in there quick...

Can you let me know how much the week is for one child to attend the playscheme, and whether we can complete the form online, or on email?

Many thanks.

Comment on Closure of the Wire Project by admin

Thank you very much for your interest in the WIRE Project and its impending closure. The WIRE has achieved a lot over the last 10 years, and we as Church leaders have spent a lot of time considering what aspects of the WIRE's work needs to be continued, and what part we can play in that.

Two years ago in Wick, the Wickbourne Centre was opened, which is run by Arun Community Church, but is open during the week to all members of the local community of any faith or none. This is now a very busy facility, and is providing much needed help to the whole community.

From 1st April Jon Jolly, who used to work for the WIRE Project, will carry on with much of his work within the local schools, but under the employment of the church.

Mark Yates, who is the current Manager of the WIRE, and also a member of the church, plans to continue the activities he has been directly involved in. He has funding already promised to allow him to do this.

We can assure you that although the WIRE is ending, the great work they started will carry on under many different guises, by various agencies, including ourselves.

why is the project closing, what about the links with lcss, the mix.
The article admits it only has contact with 'some' of the children. what will happen to the rest?
I see this as a short sighted move for litlehampton and wick.
Has power gone to the heads of ACC. Is the WIRE not something you want associated with the wickbourne centre that was built with surestart funds, 1.3 million, which is a government initiative for all denominations, not just members of the evangelical alliance.

Greetings to Arun Community Church from Michael's mum!
I have been wandering through the bloggs and discovered your reference to Michael and his adventure.

As a Christian family we took comfort then and now in knowing that in everything God was, and is, with us. In everything, we give praise and thanksgiving.

Every Blessing

Yours in Christ Jesus

This is Mr Kennedy on top form. Speaking from the heart, and from the mind. So there was commitment and content, depth and daring, passion and purpose. One of the Arun podcasts you really should listen to, if you want to be a different kind of person. I found myself agreeing with virtually every single point (which is quite unusual because I can be a mean old so-and-so). Billy said he found God drawing him back to 'the ancient'. It's my story, too. And it can be yours.

Jack's talk was timely. And I told him so. Just over Christmas, I had taken a walk along the riverside. While walking past the nice apartments, I was thinking, why aren't I improving? Why hasn't my business taken off? What does all our hard work really amount to? Why haven't I got one of thse nice apartments? It wasn't a very happy walk! Then Jack came along to church and said, the purposes are just a baby, it's early yet, there is more to come. I realise that walking with God is about partnership. He doesn't lord it over us, even though he could reduce us to atoms with just a thought. He walks with us. He wants us to succeed. But it's still early. First his purposes are a baby. But then the baby grows. And then the action starts.
