The Snake
Following this year’s Playscheme theme of Animals, we are taking a look at a different animal on our Sunday mornings over the school holiday period. This week we are considering the Snake.
How interesting that the creature that is associated with sin and a curse in the Bible is also used as a symbol of healing. A snake on a pole is the logo of the BMA, British Medical Association, and is found on the outside of many ambulances.
Jesus became a curse for us, and suffered dreadfully physically, mentally and spiritually as he hung on the cross to enable our healing, a snake on a pole. Have you ever considered that those traumatic situations, hurts, difficulties and curses you have experienced, when submitted to and covered by the cross of Jesus Christ can actually become a means of healing to others?
It is so easy like Adam to blame Eve, then the snake, and ultimately God, for our sin. But if we admit our sin, God is faithful and just and forgives our sin. Then we need to speak and act as being forgiven, and that sets us free.
