Keep Sowing

January 13th, 2009

As a bit of relief from reports about the tragic but complex situation in the Middle East, continual depressing news of the economy, and helping each other through illness and sadness, I sat down to watch a TV programme on Victorian Farming!

Life was tough then too, but a particular saying used by farmers setting out to work out how much seed to sow was:

“One for the starling, one for the crow, One to rot and one to grow”

It sounded familiar, and I took it as encouragement.

So my thoughts for the day are:

1. You can’t expect to reap if you don’t sow—applies to kindness, love, honesty, hospitality, as well as money.

2.   Only about a quarter of the seeds you sow germinate.  Let’s pray for the peace of Jerusalem, but keep sowing!
