Community Involvement

In Rustington

PLAY CENTRE PRE-SCHOOL in Rustington is now an institution in the local area. Having started in 1992 it has never looked back with every year building on the last. The 15 available places available each session are always filled with a substantial waiting list.

Sports

ARUN WANDERERS CRICKET CLUB  Arun Wanderers enjoyed an exciting season in 2008, with wins over stronger village sides like Pathfinders, Salthill and Rottingdean.  Now firmly settled into our home ground at Clymping, the Wanderers continue to attract new players and have an expanding fixture list.  New players - especially with experience (!) - are always welcome and we start winter nets at Arundel Castle in the new year.

We meet socially every first Friday at Clymping Village Hall, 7pm onwards and are looking to run umpiring and coaching seminars during winter 2010.  Check out our website to find out more on www.arunwandererscc.org.uk

BADMINTON CLUB runs every Sunday from 18:30 to 20:30 at the The Dome, Littlehampton Swimming Session. Sessions cost £4

Wickbourne Centre

After opening in February 2005, Wickbourne Centre has become established as a centre of excellence within the local community providing a wide range of services from a number of different agencies and partners. As a church, we run a variety of clubs and activities from the centre, some of which are listed below. Please also visit our Children & Youth page to see the range of activities on offer.

PLAY CENTRE NURSERY in the Wickbourne Centre is going from strength to strength with over 130 children from all around accessing the incredible facilities that they have.  The Play Centre Nursery has become very well established and thought of by the local community.
JABEZ BREAKFAST BAR FOR WOMEN  Now in its sixth year, the Jabez Breakfast Bar is held on the second Saturday of each month, at the Wickbourne Centre. For women of all ages, a fine breakfast is served for just £5.00.
With a relaxed & informal atmosphere lots of women bring their friends, neighbours or work colleagues to enjoy the excellent breakfast. Then, over coffee and a selection of teas, an interesting and challenging speaker presents a short talk, with opportunity for prayer at the end for those who request it. We have had some fantastic mornings this year, and regularly the places we have are now over-subscribed.
REFRESH COFFEE SHOP is still producing great tasting, fairly traded coffee with all profits going to benefit developing countries through our partnership with Links International. Refresh raised enough funds to provide school shoes and socks for school children in Sri Lanka (as well as decorate and refurbish the school), provide clean drinking water for another school plus storage of the clean water. All this was enabled by many of you enjoying fairly-priced Gingerbread Latte’s.
LIMETREE Pregnancy Advice Centre was launched in September 06. Based at the Wickbourne Centre, Limetree offers pregnancy tests, information and a befriending scheme to anyone who wants extra support in their pregnancy. A team of advisers, ably led by Linden Boothby, have been trained and well prepared to provide this service. The Centre is affiliated to the national organisation CARE.
BALANCING ACT - Money Advice Service. It’s never easy dealing with money, especially at this time of year. Whether your finances are just feeling a bit wobbly or if everything is crashing down around you, Balancing Act is able to help. We give free & confidential advice on how to deal with all those bills, statements & demands.
We run a drop-in session every Monday 12:30-2:30 at The Wickbourne Centre. For more information contact reception at the Wickbourne Centre on 01903-276840 or, the church office on 01903-782744
ALPHA COURSEThe Alpha Course provides basic instruction in the Christian faith. It has proved to be most useful and effective for those enquiring about the meaning of life and belief in God, who may not find it easy to attend church. It also allows them to express their concerns and to question matters that are seen as barriers to faith.
